The 2017 Flushing Arts festival kicks off this year with Arts Week from Sunday, May 28 to Saturday, June 3, starting with the opening of the arts and craft exhibition in the Village Club.

The exhibition showcases the best of exciting new creative work from local artists in a wide range of media. It will be open daily throughout Arts Week, including two new, short sessions where an exhibiting artist will explain more about the background to one their works of art.

There is also a busy programme of events running during Arts Week, including a repeat of the popular Secret Garden tour to see private Flushing gardens normally closed to the public; a concert by soprano Vanessa Bowers in St Peter's Church; Cardboard City, which is a workshop to build a cardboard version of the city of London; a new history walk through 18th and 19th century Flushing, and many other events. There is even a pedal powered fountain in the programme.

Further events are planned for 2017 and more information and how to buy tickets can be found on flushingarts.org or on Facebook@flushingarts. The Friends of Flushing Arts is open to all and ensures Friends are kept fully informed about all our activities throughout the year. Email flushingarts@outlook.com to register as a Friend.
