Pendennis Castle is set to host a special Clash of Knights tournament, showing the warring age of medieval history recreated within the grounds of the castle.

Visitors will get to see knights battling to test their strength and skill, as teams of the North, South, East and West engage in competition for honour and glory.

The knights will demonstrate their skills in archery, engage in a clubbed battle know as bohund and clash in a crest melee, where the opposing teams attempt to knock the crest off the opposing captain's helmet in pitched battle.

Throughout the event there will be chance to soak up the sights, smells and sounds of medieval Cornwall as an encampment sets up within the castle.

Medieval music will also be on offer from Trouvere, and there will be plenty of high-jinx from the jester Zooted and medieval trickster Reynard the Fox.

Wendy Amer, Pendennis Castle manager, said: "For lovers of historical action, Pendennis Castle is the place to be this May half term.

“Experience the thrill of the spectacle as our knights practice for war, and engage in a chain-mailed adrenalin-fuelled battle to prove their power and might.”
