Situated just 400 yards off Marazion, in Mount’s Bay, St Michael’s Mount is an iconic Cornish landmark and one of the most popular tourist destinations in the south west.

Families can fire the imagination at St Michael’s Mount this summer, and enjoy a day to remember, with a variety of summer activities.

You can hunt for clues, explore and learn with an entertaining castle quiz, meet some rockpool inhabitants or try a fun crafting activity: make a willow fish on a stick, design a flag on natural calico fabric or perhaps create your own family coat of arms.

Free to all visitors is Rockpool Explorer, which takes place on Fridays July 28, August 11 and August 25, from 2pm to 4pm, and Sunday August 6 and 20 from 10am to 12pm.

Families can take a walk on the wild side and have a rummage in the rockpools, discover and meet the weird and wonderful creatures that live just off the causeway and learn amazing things about their lives.

Rockpool Explorer! is suitable for all ages and children must be accompanied. There’s no need to book, just drop in at the start time and meet at the Great Scott! flag near the start of the causeway. Rock pooling shoes or old trainers are a must as the rocks are very slippery in crocs or flip flops.

There will also be A Treasure Island of Stories every Tuesday in August on the Dairy Lawn, free with castle entrance. St Michael’s Mount has many stories to tell, and this summer visitors are invited to get active, innovative and engage with the folklore, legendary tales and history of the island in a creative way.

Each activity is connected to the mount stories that our band of storytellers performs every day during the school holidays. Listen to the storytellers and then join the Great Scott! team to create elements of the legendary tales, so you can take a bespoke handcrafted piece of the mount home to treasure, and create your own story.

Visitors can make a willow fish on a stick, design a flag on natural calico fabric or create a family coat of arms. Of course, no story on the mount is complete without a mention of the island’s very own Cormoran the Giant – why not model a giant's head using clay and natural materials.

St Michael’s Mount castle, shops and restaurants are open daily, except Saturdays, from March 19 until October 27, the lush-sub tropical gardens have restricted opening times and are open until September 19.

Visitors can walk to the island at low tide and there are also boat crossings - subject to weather.
