The Environmental Records Centre for Cornwall and Isles of Scilly (ERCCIS), are putting on a wetland plants workshop at the the Cornwall Wildlife Trust's Windmill Farm Nature Reserve near the Lizard.
Visitors can join the group at the wild and diverse reserve and learn how to identify the wetland plants that make up its rich habitat, while the volunteer-driven network PondNet is offering free identification and survey technique training to help improve recording skills.
These training sessions are open to anyone who has a passion or an interest in freshwater identification and surveying and are linked to surveys often undertaken as a PondNet volunteer, and visitors can find out how to get involved by monitoring a pond near them to help inform wildlife conservation, or just to find out something new about their local wildlife areas.
To book a place, email ERCCIS@CornwallWildlifeTrust.org.uk and request a booking form, and visit the ERCCIS Facebook page at facebook.com/erccis/ to find out about other workshops.
For further information on the workshops, on getting involved in biological recording or on the work of the Environmental Records Centre, contact Laura Fox at the Records Centre Wildlife Information Service on 01872 302246.
