The Eden Project has been transformed into a children’s storybook world for the first-ever Roald Dahl’s Halloweden this half-term.

A 12 metre-long sleeping giant and an upside-down house are just some of the spooky themed experiences inspired by the author’s best-loved books and most infamous villains.

The trail of immersive activities will give everyone the chance to brave challenges featuring places and characters from The Witches, Fantastic Mr Fox, The Twits, The BFG and Matilda.

Mr and Mrs Twit’s house is full of terrible trickery and pranks while the BFG’s cave is a mystical, magical world of dream jars where a sleeping giant may lie in wait.

The Witch Watch Club conference will show visitors how to spot a real witch, while Fantastic Mr Fox’s farm features tunnels with his adversaries Boggis, Bunce and Bean lurking nearby.

There’s a scary sports day inspired by Matilda’s formidable headmistress Miss Trunchbull whose demanding challenges must be mastered to avoid ending up in the terrifying Chokey.

Polly Randle, Eden live project lead, said: “Our visitors are going to be delighted and just a little spooked by the fantastic activities we’ve lined up – all themed on Roald Dahl’s books and his most infamous villains.

“We can’t wait to unveil our exciting new Halloweden programme, created in partnership with the Roald Dahl literary estate to animate the author’s most iconic stories in new and imaginative ways.”

Roald Dahl's Halloweden will run from October 21 to 29. For more information on Roald Dahl’s Halloweden and the Eden Project go to edenproject.com
