Two Cornish themed photography and media exhibitions produced by students of Truro and Penwith College will be displayed in the gallery in Lemon Street Market.

The exhibition will represent a diverse range of art from different media including short films, promotional content creation, interactive websites, fine art photography, and moving images. It will explore themes around connections to the landscape.

BA (Hons) Applied Media student Deborah Kay, said: “The course was a great opportunity to develop creative ideas in a wide range of media, and it’s great that we can show the final outcome to the public in such a central location.”

The displays will be open to the public from Tuesday May 15 to Saturday May 19 from 9am to 5pm daily.

There will be an exclusive film screening at Truro Plaza cinema on Friday May 18 from 4pm to 5pm followed by a private viewing at the Atrium Gallery from 6pm-9pm. Visitors are invited to enjoy the show and talk to the artists on the evening.

With final work from BA Applied media students, the 'Finek Unya' exhibition takes its name from the Cornish language and roughly translates to 'ending together' to signify the final display before graduation.

The 'Onnium' exhibition will present photography and moving images from Creative Media and Photography students. The title roughly translates from Cornish to 'belonging to all', and promises to depict in depth views of the County's landscape and culture.

Sue Lewis, BA (Hons) Applied Media Programme Leader said: “The talent displayed at this year’s exhibition demonstrates the wide range of creativity and media skills the students have gained throughout the three years of their studies with us. We hope that they will be able to go into the current market place and produce work that will engage audiences; whether that be online, on screens, in print or in a gallery.”

Marcus Way, Access Programme Leader, said: “I’m really thrilled to see so many students flourishing on our brand new Access course. It has given those returning to creative study the opportunity to develop their skills and return to Higher Education to follow their passions.”

Carol Rea said: “It has really been a positive experience for me because it’s allowed me to discover so many creative ways of expressing myself through both photography and filmmaking.”
