Indie four piece Maximo Park will join The Cribs and Gabrielle Aplin as headliners at Leopallooza Festival near Bude this July.

The band, who will headline the Saturday night at the festival, formed in Newcastle in 2000 and have since released six albums, two of which went gold, while their debut A Certain Trigger was nominated for the Mercury Prize in 2005.

Also newly confirmed for the main arena are alternative rockers Turbowolf and blues beat-boxer Son Of Dave, along with the first wave of DJs for dance stages Treeline and Temple of Boom - including Bristol’s Redlight and Stanton Warriors, genre-blending DJ Barely Legal and Cornish heroes Hong Kong Ping Pong.

Festival co-founder Sam Dunnett said: “This year’s lineup has got to be one of our best yet. The headliners are sell-out artists in their own right, but with the likes of Redlight on our dance stages, we’ve got the makings of something special.”

Over 100 bands and DJs will play across seven stages throughout the weekend. Sam continued: “Our two main stages sit next to each other, which means we’re able to pack the music in with pretty much no changeover time. All you need to do is turn slightly, and the entertainment will be non-stop.”

“As always, we will be making the festival about more than just music. The whole experience is something to behold, and gets better every year. With that in mind, I’m very happy to announce that the dress-up theme for the Saturday will be Run Away with the Circus. Interpret that in whatever way you like.”

Sharp’s Brewery will be supplying all the bars on site, including the Sharp’s Confessional Bar with secret, intimate band sets. The brewery will also be launching two new beers at the festival - one of which has been especially created for Leopallooza. Over 15 food vendors will be pitching up for the weekend, with plenty to suit all tastes.

Camping is free for festival-goers, and the campsite will feature a new tuck shop selling all essentials - including cold cans of beer. Quiet family camping areas will also be available.

This year sees the addition of the Punkomedy stand-up comedy stage, featuring local and national comedians, and the BBC Music Introducing in Cornwall stage - a platform for the county’s local musical talent.

Leopallooza takes place from July 28 to 30 at The Wyldes near Bude, and adult weekend tickets are available at leopallooza.com for £110 per person, with free parking and free camping. Family weekend tickets are also available for £230.

The venue will also host Bill Bailey, Katherine Ryan and Russell Kane between August 25 and 27 as headliners of the first Stand Up in The Wyldes comedy festival.
