Vivaldi by Candlelight performed by Britain’s best-loved classical touring ensemble, the Locrian Ensemble will be at the Hall for Cornwall in January.

Presenting a musical tribute to the great Venetian composer, Antonio Vivaldi, the Locrian Ensemble performs in front of a stunning classical set, attired in lavish period costume. These charismatic musicians perform Vivaldi's Four Seasons, a composition which depicts 17th century Italian rural life in a wonderfully inventive manner. Other works include the virtuoso Concerto for Two Violins, the Rustic Symphony, and classics such as Pachelbel's Canon and Handel's Arrival of the Queen of Sheba.

Bringing together some of the most prominent string soloists in London, The Locrian Ensemble, was formed in 1995 and immediately established an enviable reputation for its recordings, broadcasts and live performances.

In 2016, they topped the British Classical Music Chart with their recording of Debbie Wiseman’s score to BBCTV’s “Wolf Hall”. The Locrian have recorded works for BBC Radio 3 and Classic FM, and released compact discs on the ASV label (Mozart and Schubert Quintets), the complete chamber works of the great Swiss composer, Volmar Andreae (Guild) and on the Dutton Epoch label (Rebecca Clarke and Arthur Benjamin, Bainton and Clifford, the chamber works of Tony Arnell.)

Sweeney Entertainments, co-founded by Julie and Peter Sweeney, has been providing a wide repertoire of top quality touring shows for theatre and corporate events for over 15 years both in the UK and internationally. 2017 was the company’s strongest year to date with more shows touring than ever before and 2018 brings even more new shows and UK tour dates. Julie said: “The Locrian Ensemble are a fantastic new addition to the Sweeney Entertainments repertoire, presenting a beautiful reproduction of these classical masterpieces.”
