Folk duo Phillip Henry & Hannah Martin are coming to Cornwall to play The Acorn in Penzance on Thursday March 29.
The pair have just been nominated for a Radio 2 folk award for best duo 2018 for their latest album Edgelarks, which was recorded at Cube Studios in Truro.
Taking inspiration from Hannah Martin's Cornish family and the location of their studio, the duo produced a version of the Cornish language song Estren, which tells the story of an American traveller in Cornwall.
This release was the band's most experimental and features a variety of unusual instruments from around the world, including the Indian shruti box and chaturangui slide guitar.
The album has a strong eastern influence, in part due to Philip Henry's time spent studying under the Indian slide guitarist Pandit Debashish Bhattacharyain 2008 in Calcutta.
Their Penzance gig starts at 8pm at The Acorn, and tickets can be purchased for £13 at www.theacornpenzance.com or by calling 01736 363545.
