THE final day of GeekFest at Heartlands is taking place today. There are tournaments for all ages, a gaming area, and a chance to try out an Oculus Rift. Sci-fi heroes and villains are also present in what is a celebration of all things comic book, film and TV related.

Today is the last chance to sample some of the finest street food the South West has to offer at Events Square, Falmouth. Truly Crumtious, the contestant from Cornwall, will be serving up homemade crumpets. Posh Kebabs and a barbecue smokehouse are also there.

The Outdoor + Active Centre at Stithians lake are staging their annual Windsurf Rally today and are offering windsurfing tuition for all levels. This is a chance to learn new techniques; from sailing across the wind, harness and foot strap techniques, carve gybing and freestyle for the high flyers.

Reggae Ambassadors featuring Third World and Iqulah Rastafari are at the Princess pavilion tonight from 7.30pm. These reggae heavyweights will be bringing to the Falmouth stage an infusion of R&B, funk, pop and rock, dancehall and rap.

Today is the final showing of Rogue Theatre’s Blackbeard’s Heart from 2.30pm, and King Arthur this evening from 7.30pm. Both shows take place in the heart of Tehidy Woods. Audience members wind their way along a path, meeting characters for the first time as they walk into the setting of the stories, both of which are truly enchanting.

The Gilbert and Sullivan Opera has its opening night tonight with a performance of HMS Pinafore at Hall for Cornwall at 7.30pm. This is one of the most popular and well-known of the Gilbert and Sullivan operas set aboard HMS Pinafore where the Captain’s daughter Josephine falls in love with a lower-class sailor.
