Newlyn artist Mark Jenkin’s hand-crafted film, Bronco's House, will be first to be screened at the newly completed Newlyn Filmhouse.

Following a successful run of London festival screenings, Mark's anticipated new work, a handcrafted 16mm black and white film about the housing crisis, will be released publicly on Friday, February 19.

Selected for it’s festival premiere by indie-filmmakers favourite Raindance last September, Bronco’s House has continued to draw industry attention to Newlyn-based filmmaker Mark with recent January 2016 screenings at London Short Film Festival.

The film’s producer Denzil Monk said: “When we realised Newlyn Filmhouse would be nearing completion at the time we wanted to release the film, it seemed the obvious place to host the launch – just a few hundred yards down the hill from where the film was made.

"As Bronco’s House was crowdfunded online, we decided the best way to go is a day-and-date multi-platform release - the film being available to watch in the cinema and online through VOD at the same time.”

Suzie Sinclair from Newlyn Filmhouse added: “This screening is a great opportunity to open the building just before the cinema launches, bringing cinema back to Newlyn."

Mark and Denzil will present the 44 minute film at Newlyn Filmhouse at 7.30pm on February 19 which will be followed by a Q&A session in the café bar.

Mark will then be taking the film on a roadshow, starting with a Cinematologists hosted event at the Electric Palace in Hastings on February 21, followed by other dates in Cornwall and across the UK.
