Comedy nights in Falmouth and Truro are showcasing the work of local comedians, next month.

Toast in Falmouth is hosting a Comedy Jam event with an "ever-expanding gaggle of comedians" from the area who will be testing new material on a warm and welcoming audience.

One of the featured comedians at the event will be Falmouth resident, Sophie Sweatman.

Comedy Jam at Toast will be on Monday, July 4 at 8pm.

The following week, Laugh and Dine at Mustard and Rye will take place in Truro, headlined by Cornish funny man, Matt Price.

Matt, who now lives in London, where he co-founded the Natural Born Storytellers comedy night at the Camden Head, will be returning to the town of his birth to perform a preview of his upcoming Edinburgh Fringe show, Poltroon.

In his show, which is named after the word meaning an utter coward, Matt will demonstrate how to deal with confrontation as a self-confessed 20 stone poltroon with his own life experiences, including bad break dancing, remedial maths class, and an incident when being cowardly accidentally turned into bravery.

Observational stand-up comedian and published author, Maggy Whitehouse, will also be performing on the night, as well as Mark Dennett, who will be travelling down from Launceston.

Laugh and Dine will be at Mustard and Rye Bar and Grill on Wednesday, July 13 at 8pm.

Tickets cost £10 and are available for the Truro event by calling Mustard and Rye on 01872 272766, or from the venue.

Entry to Comedy Jam at Toast in Falmouth is free.

Both comedy nights will be hosted by MJ Walker.
