Cornish lawyer turned award-winning filmmaker John Boyle goes behind-the-scenes of his new book on experiences with Somali pirates at The Poly on Thursday September 8.

John Boyle’s television documentary about Somali pirates was distributed worldwide by National Geographic, and as a result he was commissioned by Bloomsbury to write a book, Blood Ransom, and has become a recognised expert on the subject.

Illustrated with clips from the documentary film, John Boyle gives a fascinating and possibly slightly unconventional look at this 21st century scourge of the oceans that has been estimated to cost the world economy $18 billion every year.

Tickets cost £8 for adults and £6 for concessions, and are available from the Poly box office, by calling 01326 319461, or online at www.thepoly.org.
