FROM Renoir etchings to a Picasso lithograph, Falmouth Art Gallery’s new Press Gang exhibition explores all aspects of print-making and encourages you to have a go too.

It is a little known fact that Falmouth Art Gallery has one of the strongest contemporary print collections outside of London as well as some impressive Old Master prints. Press Gang showcases the gallery’s collection and celebrates the work of the vibrant community of printmakers in Cornwall, including students from Falmouth University.

It is also the first showing of Picturing the Mines, a series of ten evocative prints celebrating Cornwall and Devon’s Mining World Heritage Sites (WHS).

Visitors are encouraged to immerse themselves in the art of print making and even have a go themselves at the print making stations. A series of free print-making taster sessions is being held throughout the show, with the first one Drypoint (Intaglio Printing) taking place this Friday, September, 23, from 1pm to 4pm. Visit falmouthartgallery.com for more information or call 01326 313863 to book your place.

This will be followed by taster sessions in Moku Hanga (Japanese Woodcuts) and wood engraving.

Families can enjoy a series of printing workshops during the October half term. Activities include "Rubbish Printing" on Tuesday, October 25; "Pattern Pattern" the next day and "Stencil/Relief" on October 27. These workshops are free and operate on a drop-in basis between 11am and 3pm.

Press Gang can be seen at Falmouth Art Gallery until November 19. The gallery is open from 10am–5pm, Monday to Saturday. Admission is free.
