A Spanish artist whose films have been screened internationally at festivals and galleries is bringing her work to Helston.
Laida Lertxundi, who lives and works in Los Angeles, shoots primarily on 16mm film in the Californian landscape, exploring particular local geographies while working with non-actors, live music and evocative sound recordings.
Five of the artist's films will be screened for the CAST Film Club this Friday, featuring a selection moving between intimate interiors and majestic open landscapes.
This will be followed by a Q&A discussion with Laida and the programme curator, Kelly Taylor.
The five works being presented include films from 2007 to the artist's most recent work of this year, 025 Sunset Red. This film will have its UK premiere at the Tate Modern in London just a few days before the screening in Helston.
CAST Film Club screens artists' films on a monthly basis, serving food beforehand in CAST Café.
Laida Lertxundi's work will be screened at 3 Penrose Road on Friday, November 11. A £6 supper will be available from 6.30pm and the free screening will begin at 7.30pm.
Everyone is welcome and there is no need to reserve a seat.
