Residents of Mawnan Smith are preparing for the village's Christmas festivities to begin.

The Christmas lights switch-on will kick off the seasonal celebrations on Friday, November 25, starting with a gathering in the square at 6pm, where Father Christmas will be making an appearance.

The lights switch-on will then take place at 6.30pm.

The following day, Father Christmas will be at Mawnan Smith Memorial hall for the village's Church Christmas Bazaar on Saturday, November 26 from 10am to 12pm.

With various stalls, tombolas, competitions, raffles and face painting, there will be something for the whole family. All proceeds from the bazaar will be donated to Cornwall Blood Bikes and Mawnan Church.

Mawnan WI will then be hosting their Christmas gift fair on Saturday, December 3 from 10am to 2pm.

The annual event, which is also being held in the Memorial hall, will feature a variety of stalls selling items made by local artisans, including glass, tree decorations, cards, knitwear, jewellery, baskets, cushions and painted furniture.

There will also be homemade cakes on sale and other refreshments will be available to enjoy while browsing the stalls looking for Christmas gifts.
