Helston's festive celebrations officially start next Friday when the town's Christmas lights switch-on takes place.

The Christmas lights committee has been working hard all year testing and maintaining the lights, making improvements to displays and fundraising to keep the lights in top condition.

This year's big switch-on takes place on Friday, November 25. It includes an evening market with stalls selling everything from jewellery to mulled wine, as well as a visit from Father Christmas, and a firework display to ensure the evening goes with a bang.

Helston Town Band will be introducing the proceedings and leading the crowd up to the countdown of the Christmas lights switch-on, which takes place at 7.30pm.

A host of other music acts will also be playing at the event, including local choirs and Samba Celtica.

The Christmas lights switch-on and all entertainment for the evening, including the firework display, will take place on Coinage Hall Street, with the stalls located on both Coinage Hall Street and Meneage Street.
