Cornwall Community Choir starts it's annual run of four Christmas Cracker events in Helston on Saturday, December 17.

The four concerts take place in Helston, Truro, Falmouth and Penzance and a wide range of festive music is promised. For the run of concerts, Cornwall Community Choir will be joined by members of Local Vocalz, Falmouth Vocalz and Laudate Chamber Choir.

Conducted by Neil Shepherd, the ever popular concerts feature music from the 15th century to the present day with the accent on good quality music from contemplative quiet traditional items to ever popular Christmas standards such as Rocking Around the Christmas Tree, The Skater's Waltz, Jingle Bells and this year, the old Steele Span hit, Gaudate.

In addition to the choir items, there will be carols for the audience to join in with and at the Penzance and Falmouth concerts, a special visit from Father Christmas with a small gift for the younger children.

As families start to gather for the festive season, families and children are actively invited to come along. Conductor of the concerts, Neil Shepherd said: "Children and families are warmly welcome. Nobody will complain if the children make a noise and they will be made to feel very welcome, with an opportunity for them to come out to the front and sing a carol with the choirs, listen to a shortened version of the Christmas story and then give a huge warm Cornish welcome to Father Christmas and his elves.

"Choral concerts can sometimes be extremely highbrow, stuffy sort of events. With these concerts, we aim to show people that choirs can be extremely light hearted, friendly, fun and accessible."

The four events this year are: Saturday, December 17, 7.30pm at St Mary's Catholic Church, Helston; Thursday, December 22 at 1pm, in Truro Cathedral (free admission) and at 7.30pm at Falmouth Methodist Church; Friday, December 23, at 7pm at St Mary's Church, Penzance.

Tickets available on the door for each event.
