The Royal Cornwall Museum in Truro is to host an antiques valuation day which is being described as "bring in your history day."

The event, on Tuesday, March 7, is supported by Bonhams International Auctioneers and Valuers. “Not everyone makes the history books, but everyone has a story to tell, our Heart of Conflict Exhibition looks at how people in Cornwall kept body and soul together during the years of WWI, how they lived and how they loved,” said Ian Wall director of the Royal Cornwall Museum.

Bring in Your History Day offers local people the chance to have their WWI family heirlooms, war medals and more examined by industry experts and have the stories behind these objects, and their value, uncovered.

Susan Roberts, Bridging Arts director, said: “We’ve worked with local people to uncover stories of human bravery and endurance. We hope that this day will bring more of these stories to life.”

Bonhams experts Chris Allen and John Millensted will be in the county for one day only to identify objects from this important era. With a collective interest in antique weapons, military medals and coins they offer the perfect opportunity for people to learn more about their family history.

Bring in Your History Day will run at the museum from 10am until 2pm on Tuesday, March 7. Everyone bringing in objects will be offered free entry to the museum.
