The National Trust at Penrose is giving children of all ages the opportunity to learn all about trees.

Sessions will include learning about how to identify trees, use fallen branches to build shelters, determine which wood is good for campfires and how to start one without using matches.

Children will also get the chance to bake and eat bush craft bread flavoured with wood sap and wash it down with hot chocolate.

Layla Astley, Visitor Experience Manager, said: "What a great way to spend a morning or an afternoon in the woods."

Sessions for un-accompanied children seven years and over will be run on Wednesday April 4 at 10am until 12.30pm or 1.30pm until 4pm.

There will also be sessions for families with children under seven years old on Wednesday April 11 at the same times. The cost is £8.50 per child; accompanying adults and additional siblings under two are free.

Booking is essential. Please contact Claire Scott at claire@greatscottadventuresoutdoors.com or 01736 711187 to secure a place.
