The Cornwall Garden Society are celebrating the departure of the beast from the east and welcoming in the springtime with their spring flower show.
Held in the Boconnoc Estate near Lostwithiel on Saturday April 7 and Sunday April 8, the event has a reputation as one of the best flower shows in the country, and was called a “Chelsea of the south-west” by the Telegraph.
Peter Gilmore, show director, said: “Each year we build on previous successes to provide a day out for all the family that is packed with new things to see, do and enjoy.
“In 2018, we are delighted to be offering a new artisan craft marquee to highlight the work of a range of Cornish creatives, and even more indoor space for the growing number of specialist nurseries and collections that the Show continues to attract from across the South West and the wider UK.”
Alongside displays of camellias, magnolias, daffodils and rhododendrons in the competitive classes, there will be show gardens from Eden Project apprentices, the Lost Gardens of Heligan, and Duchy College; and over 120 nursery and horticultural stands.
There will also be floral art and photography competitions as well as lectures and Q&A sessions with gardeners, and a huge range of local food and drink.
