Cornwall’s annual summer punk and pasty pogofest is set to continue with a new name and a scorching line-up of seasoned noise merchants.

The New Rose Festival will continue to carry the flaming torch lit by the 3 Chords Festival and will take place at Trereife Park, Penzance, on August 26 / 28.

Already confirmed is Sham 69 with Jimmy Pursey, who will undoubtedly set off earth tremors with stomp-a-long classics like Hurry Up Harry, Borstal Breakout and If The Kids Are United.

Anarcho ska-punk legends Culture Shock are also confirmed on the bill, making a welcome return to Cornwall after recent sell-out shows.

Bringing the sounds of the suburbs to Penzance will be 1977 punks The Members, who have recently returned from a coast to coast tour of the USA.

Festival organiser Rob Lewis said: “The New Rose Festival will continue to be a proper punk party in a beautiful park for anyone with an interest in alternative culture. Each event we put on at Trereife just gets better and better.”

Also booked to play at the two-day festival are Plymouth’s street punk legends Arch Rivals; Scotland’s loudest Nine Bullets; frantic rockabilly from Falmouth with Breakout; Blackpool’s finest speed merchants Dischord and hardcore from Birmingham with Brassick alongside English Dogs, The Straps, Potential Victims, Brassick, Headstone Horrors and Honey.

Rob added: “We’re pleased with the way the line-up is shaping up with recognisable names, bands that are big on the UK punk scene and up-and-coming bands both local and national. We have set out to celebrate the creativity and diversity that is fuelled by the punk ethos with a spectacularly curated festival in stunning surroundings.”

The New Rose Festival offers locally sourced food and top quality beers, ales and cider, courtesy of Skinners Beer and other local breweries. There is even something for the little punks too with a family marquee offering art workshops along with other activities.

Earlybird tickets for the New Rose Festival, which also include three days of camping with full facilities, are currently on sale for £50 until the end of February after which they will be offered for the full price of £70. Day tickets and child passes are available.
