400 singers from local choirs are combining for a "massed choirs" performance in Truro Cathedral to raise funds for Cornwall Hospice Care.

The Voices for Hospices concert will feature Four Lanes Male Choir, Cornwall Community Choir, The Vocalz Chorus and Laudate Chamber Choir conducted by Neil Shepherd and Timothy Hosken. Accompanists will be Richard Bailey and Ruth Wetherall, and Truro Cathedral organist Luke Bond will be presiding at the 'Father Willis' organ.

The programme of music for the evening features something for everyone, including classical music, traditional male voice choir favourites, show tunes, folk songs and popular melodies.

Laudate Chamber Choir have established themselves as one of the leading chamber choirs in Cornwall and have performed in prestigious venues ranging from St Michael's Mount to Bath Abbey and several venues in France.

The Vocalz Chorus, which is a mixture of both Falmouth Vocalz and Hayle based Local Vocalz, recently got through to the South West regional heats of the BBC Choir of the Year competition, and the 200 strong Cornwall Community Choir has groups in Truro, Falmouth, Helston, St Ives, Hayle and Penzance.

Voices for Hospices will take place in Truro Cathedral on Saturday, July 9 at 7.45pm.

Tickets are available from the Hall for Cornwall box office on 01872 262466, or online at www.hallforcornwall.co.uk.

Any remaining tickets will be available at the door on the night.
