Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) is celebrating its 25th anniversary in an evening of music in Truro.

The silver celebration concert will feature singing from Cornwall Symphony Chorus and music from Truro Junior String Orchestra. The evening will be compered by Radio Cornwall’s Daphne Skinnard, with special guest speaker, Eddie Farwell, who is the co-founder and chief executive of CHSW.

Eddie and his late wife Jill set up the charity 25 years ago following personal family experience of having two life limited children and their nearest hospice being in Oxford. The couple's dream was to open three children's hospices in the South West so that families in the area who needed to visit a hospice would be within a 90 minute drive of one, and Little Harbour in St Austell, which opened in December 2011, was the final piece to their jigsaw.

Little Harbour is currently looking after 88 life limited children and their families, as well as 20 bereaved families.

Mary Murfin, community fundraiser for CHSW, said: "We are so excited about the silver concert and feel very privileged to have such fantastic musicians coming together to celebrate our 25th anniversary with us. Be sure to get your tickets in advance to avoid disappointment."

The silver celebration concert will take place at Truro Methodist Church on Saturday, July 16 at 7.30pm.

Tickets are available from Truro Tourist Information Centre, Cornwall Symphony Chorus and CHSW’s Little Harbour on 01726 871800.

The charity is celebrating its 25th anniversary throughout 2016.
