A band nominated for a BBC Radio 2 Folk Award is opening the new season of entertainment at the newly refurnished Devoran village hall.

Faustus will be playing an acoustic session in the Devoran venue as part of their new album tour.

The band, which consists of Saul Rose, Benji Kirkpatrick and Paul Sartin, was nominated for the award in 2009 and their direct and powerful live performances have put them at the forefront of the new English folk revival.

With a plethora of experience between them, the band members came together in 2006, and one year later they received a 75th anniversary award from the English Folk Dance and Song Society.

This year the band featured as the official artists in residence at Halsway Manor, a centre for folk arts, and they recently released their latest album, Death and Other Animals.

Faustus will be at Devoran village hall on Saturday, October 22 at 7.30pm.

Tickets cost £13.50 and are available by calling the Hall for Cornwall box office on 01872 262466, or online at hallforcornwall.co.uk.

Audience members are welcome to bring their own refreshments but only plastic glasses are permitted in the venue.
