Cornwall-based Latin, jazz, flamenco and acoustic rock quartet the Horsemen of the Apocalypse kick off their Revelation tour next week, with four dates at local venues.

The group, which features Rowan Nightingale (acoustic bass), brothers Ben and Jon Salfield (lutar, flamenco guitar) and Simon Stanton (percussion), has recently recorded an album, and is set to appear at venues in Europe and South America over the next 15 months, as the musicians take their new blend of musical styles to old fans and new across the globe.

While the original two members of what was originally the Salfield brothers' Ramas de la 'Ud became well-known in the 1990s, the other two musicians are relative newcomers, and have helped focus the sound of the quartet, giving an edgier and even tighter sound.

Rowan, who joined a year ago, said: “It was quite a shock to be asked to join a group that I had seen perform live as a child, and I was really honoured to perform alongside artists I had admired for many years. Within weeks I was appearing in front of hundreds at Hay Festival – and now we will be taking our music to really big festivals, which is really exciting.”

Catch the Horsemen in concert at Helston Museum on Tuesday, January 17; The Centre at Newlyn, the next night; Cornwall Fencing Centre on Friday, January 20, and at Malpas Village Hall on Saturday the 21st.

All concerts begin at 7.30pm and tickets available online from kernowconcerts.co.uk.
