The F Word - no, not that one - is coming to Woodlane Social Club on Friday, as a team of formidable females from Falmouth bring a live multi-genre music gig to town.

Created by artists who identify as female and believe gender is not a reflection of ability and should be no barrier to leisure or work, the night features Liverpool's hotly-tipped psych-folk darlings Stealing Sheep, with support from local talent Annie EEL featuring Straz and Olive Haigh.

Mackinlay Ingham, co manager of The F Word, said: “I was once told to get into the industry as a women you have to be a ‘bitch or a whore’. Gender does not reflect my ability but for some reason it reduces my chances of working in my industry, it is attitudes like the one mentioned above that cast a shadow over the amazing women currently working in the music industry and create a barrier for the future women of our creative industries.

"The F Word seeks to remove this barrier by providing a platform for female artists and practitioners

to showcase their talent and ability to an audience of music lovers”.

The F Word aims to address gender inequality in the music industry which means that nearly 70 per cent of industry positions are currently held by men, nearly 50 per cent of women in the business earn less than £10,000, and as little as six per cent of festival line ups are all female acts.

So join the F Word for a night of amazing music and a chance to network with like-minded people.

The F Word will be at Woodlane Social Club on March 24 from 8pm, and early bird tickets are £5.50, with general admission £8 online or £10 on the door, available at amata.ticketsolve.com/shows/873571068
