Fans of washed-out guitar riffs, hypnotically chilled out rhythms and faux-English accents are in for a treat as San Francisco psyche rockers Brian Jonestown Massacre will be playing the Princess Pavilion on October 13.

The band have been playing for 30 years and have become legends of the underground music scene. They were the subject of the documentary Dig! in 2004 that followed them on tour and documented their tumultuous working relationship complete with on stage fist fights and a feud with The Dandy Warhols.

In 2016 the band played their first ever Cornish set at the Pavilion where they took the near-capacity audience on a three hour dive into their psychedelic catalogue which at that point spanned 17 studio albums.

Their newest album is called Something Else and will be released on June 1 on 180 gram white vinyl ahead of their Pavilion gig. It was recorded at singer Anton Newcombe's Cobra Studio in Berlin and features a less experimental sound than recent releases, harking back to the early days of the band. Something Else was recorded between 2017 and 2018 and will be the first of two new albums released this year, with a self-titled album due to drop in September.

Over the last four years, Anton Newcombe has released three critically acclaimed Brian Jonestown Massacre albums and an EP, one soundtrack album, and one album with Tess Parks, the follow up to which will be released in between the forthcoming Brian Jonestown Massacre albums this year. All of these releases were fully recorded and produced at Anton's studio.

The Brian Jonestown Massacre track Straight Up and Down was used as the theme tune to the multi-award winning Boardwalk Empire. Anton also wrote the soundtrack for Moon Dogs, a film directed by multi-BAFTA nominated Philip John.

Tickets for the Princess Pavilion gig will go on sale on seetickets.com at 9am on Friday May 4.
