Cornish wildlife photographer David Chapman has come up trumps with his book to be launched at the end of March, "Wild About Cornwall".

Anyone with an interest in the wildlife, flora and fauna of Cornwall could not fail to be enchanted by this 256 page book which has more than 280 photographs by David taken all over the county as well as a map. The photographs are stunning and informative. They range from the now famous Cornish Chough, to a delicate photograph of a damselfly.

The woodlands of Kennall Vale near Ponsanooth are captured in all their glory and the amazing picture of a cormorant about to take flight from the water is excellent.

The thistles of Loe Bar are shown in full bloom and the beauty of Cornwall's moorland, coast and seashore depicted in such a way that the reader will soon become so captivated by what can be found, they will want to make a visit to see it for themselves.

David has been out and about all over the county to capture his images in all weathers and all seasons for this book which lists about 40 sites to see the best of the wildlife, suggested walks, and the huge variety of species available.

David Chapman is a trustee of the Cornwall wildlife Trust, and is passionate about the protection of wild places.

He came to live in Cornwall in 1992 intending to teach. But his career as a wildlife photographer and writer developed quickly. He is now a professional photographer and writer, and his work is featured regularly wildlife magazines, gardening publications, specials journals as well as in the Packet and its sister publications Smallholder and South West Farmer.

This is an excellent book for the family as well as for the specialist and the words, which accompany the pictures, are very informative. Each section of the book which takes the reader round the county and the Isles of Scilly, has a "Look out for" piece ideal to quickly find out where to go and when to see something special.

There are instructions on how to reach each destination, where to park, what conditions to expect under foot. Those r5estricted areas open only seasonally, are included with opening times. For those wanting to follow a map, OS reference numbers are also given.

This is an excellent book which can be enjoyed whatever the seasons and whatever the weather.

The book, Wild about Cornwall by David Chapman will be published by Alison Hodge, on March 29, priced £14.95. ISBN:9780906720516 SJI
