CORNISH-based comedy duo Ginger Tart and Jupiter Jove, collectively known as The Saucy Pear Cabaret, are bringing back burlesque in a big way on May 30 at The King’s Arms in Penryn.
Described as “if Monty Python did burlesque”, The Saucy Pear are delighted to be bringing back their own silly, sexy brand of comedy through strip-tease and song with brand spanking new material, as well as showcasing some of Cornwall and Plymouth’s cabaret talents.
The Cabaret will be serving up a menu of locally-sourced burlesque dancers, comedians and musicians, in a Vaudevillian style variety show. The evening is set to be chock-full of naughty jokes, sultry song and an awful lot of rhinestones.
Producer and one half of The Saucy Pear, Ginger Tart, says “The whole burlesque scene is just so liberating simply because it’s so fun and silly. You don’t have to look like pin-up to get involved, and it’s a great way to celebrate being sexy and weird and to really let loose. Cornwall doesn’t have much of a burlesque scene at the moment, so we’re hoping to bring it back with a bang and show people how much fun this original and quirky artform can be.”
Tickets are £8 if bought in advance and £10 on the door. Further information can be found on www.facebook.com/SaucyPearCabaret. The show includes strong language and nudity.
