International physical theatre ensemble, Deiopea Theatre, is presenting Tide at Falmouth’s Polytechnic on July 16, an extraordinarily visual production that is accessible for both hearing and hearing-impaired audiences.
Set in the beautiful, haunting and lonely ocean, a woman longs with her entire heart for a world to which she doesn't belong, filled with love for a mysterious man. Tides story is about pursuing desire no matter the cost, the obstacles, or the laws of nature standing in the way.
Loosely inspired by Tim Burton’s Anchor baby and Hans Christian Andersen’s Little Mermaid, this production uses a blend of music, sign language and spoken word, and it encourages us to question what shapes our desires and the consequences can bind us.
Deiopea Theatre is a new, international, physical theatre ensemble, whose performers come from Germany, Canada and England and includes Anja Bibby who has worked with Cornish landscape theatre company, WildWorks.
Recommended age for this production is 13 upwards. Tickets are adults tickets are £8, concession tickets and Poly Members are £6 plus £1 Poly fund per ticket. To book call: 01326 319461, or visit the poly.
