A much loved Cornish comic kicks off the home leg of his tour in Penzance in mid July, before performing at The Poly in his hometown of Falmouth on July 17.

Kernow King, otherwise known as Edward Rowe, moved to Falmouth from Roche in 2008 and fondly remembers launching his first show, “Wonders of the Cornish Universe” back in March 2011.

“I was more nervous than I had ever been. Two hours of stand up material that I’d hardly tested was helluva way to start my professional career, but within minutes, I knew this was what I was meant to be doing. The standing ovation at the end was pretty incredible, too!”

The King has not looked back since that fateful night. “Wonders of the Cornish Universe” and especially “Splann!” not only took him all around the country, but international as well. “Yep, Australia in May 2015 was incredible. I performed in South Oz and then Sydney. Of course, a fair few Cornish came to watch me, which was brilliant. We get everywhere and nobody ever forgets their Cornish roots, even after 60 years in some cases.”

KK’s latest show, “Minority Rapport” is still very much about being a Cornishman, but takes on broader issues. After the success of “Wonders of the Cornish Universe” and “Splann!” we asked him what made this show different, “I wanted to be less of an in joke really” KK told us, “I wanted it to be more of a wider view of the world from a Cornishman’s point of view and I’m pleased to say, after some great shows in Devon and beyond, it’s going down a storm. It’s got more of a political edge, sharper, what means it be a minority…it’s still very Cornish mind!”.

After performing at the majority of venues in Cornwall, the King takes on a few surprise venues, including a preaching pit in mid Cornwall, a beach on the Roseland and Flambards on the 28th August.
