Justin Leigh will be at The Poly next month exploring how social media is changing the way traditional forms of media report the news.

Having been broadcasting in the South West for more than twenty years, Justin has covered some of the region's biggest news events, including flooding at Boscastle, the 1999 solar eclipse, the foot and mouth outbreak and the Queen's Golden Jubilee.

With social media now the first port of call for news for many people, Justin's lecture is about broadcasters and newspapers having to adapt to this digital world, and how this new world makes it possible for audiences to engage with the media.

The talk is the 2016 Annual Paul Smales Lecture; a talk given in memory of Paul Smales, a man who made a great contribution to many Cornish institutions and was a friend of The Poly.

Justin Leigh's lecture is at The Poly on Saturday, March 26 at 7.30pm.

Tickets can be purchased online at www.thepoly.org or by calling the box office on 01326 319461 (Tuesday to Saturday, 10am to 7pm).
