After a brilliant season performing at Glastonbury Festival, Carlyon Beach, Port Eliot Festival and Wilderness Festival, multi award winning Rogue Theatre returns home to Tehidy Woods with a new call to the wild, a festival of summer and a book full of fantastical new stories.

Wild Woodland Summer Ball is Rogue’s free-spirited celebration of wildness, set in one of Cornwall’s most breathtaking landscapes, and blending stories of fantastical realism with a carnival atmosphere and a dance.

It is a unique woodland adventure into a wondrous world, like an immersive pop-up story book of magical, dark and funny fairytales. With stories for boys, girls and grown-ups who still hear the call of the wild.

Visitors can join the King of the Woods on the paths of imagination, and Moon, the Queen of the Sky as they tell tales of adventurous girls and curiosity pop-up shops, of enchanted journeys, of love, beasts, witches, a thousand new moons and magic. And in the evenings at the twilight ball there will be a tale made for slightly wilder imaginations, with fire crows that light up the dark night skies.

There will be enchanting live music, thrilling stories, otherworldly performance, explosive acrobatics, fire, dancing, free face painting, and the chance to create a woodland wand or decoration to take home.

Forest creature costumes, faerie dress, otherworld outfits, party frocks, wild life masks, funny hats, forest finery, frippery, feathers and fancy hairdos are encouraged though not essential, for adults as well as children.

There will also be hot refreshments, cold drinks, beer, wine and cider, as well as Rogue’s Wild Woodland vegetable stew to buy.

Rogue Theatre recommends bringing a picnic or snacks, a picnic blanket, a warm and waterproof coat, shoes for adventure - and a torch for the evening performance - and there will be hay bales to sit on, though cushions or chairs are welcomed.

The event lasts about two and a half hours, and the path is bumpy, but should be fine for a rugged buggy.

Wild Woodland Summer Ball gathers at 2.30pm for younger families, and at 7.30pm for slightly older families and adults, on August 16, to 21, 23 to 29, and 31, and September 1 to 4.

The ball will take place at Tehidy Woods North Cliffs entrance near Portreath, and standard tickets cost £8.50 while flexible discount tickets are £7.50.
