A heartfelt play about the foot and mouth epidemic of 2001 is being performed at the Tolmen Centre next month.

And The Come the Nightjars looks at how scars are still evident on the landscape and also on the relationships of those affected by the disease more than ten years on.

The tender, funny story, which is full of love, tells the tale of a dairy vet and a cattle farmer in South Devon, looking at how their friendship and whole way of life is thrown into question when the foot and mouth epidemic sweeps across the UK countryside.

The critically acclaimed play by Bea Roberts stars David Fielder and Nigel Hastings, and is directed by Paul Robinson. The poignant and uncompromising play won Theatre503’s international Playwriting Award in 2014 and was also nominated for six Off West End Theatre Awards.

And Then Come The Nightjars will be at the Tolmen Centre in Constantine on Thursday, October 13 at 7.30pm, and at The Acorn, Penzance on Tuesday, October 11 at 7.30pm.

Tickets for the Tolmen Centre performance cost £11, £8.80 for concessions, and are available from the box office on 01326 341353, or online at tolmencentre.co.uk.
