Award-winning opera producer, Ellen Kent, is returning to Truro with a trio of critically acclaimed productions in what she has described as "an opera festival."

The opera producer known for adding a touch of Las Vegas to her productions is bringing international soloists, a full orchestra and a highly praised chorus to the Hall for Cornwall with La Bohème, Nabucco and Aida.

Regarded as one of the most romantic operas ever written, La Bohème follows the tale of the doomed, consumptive Mimi and her love for a penniless writer. This tour production of La Bohème is being premiered in Truro.

Nabucco is a powerful tale laced with revenge, destruction and jealousy in which Verdi's haunting and melodic chorus of the Hebrew slaves follows the plight of the Hebrews forced from their homeland into exile by the Babylonian King Nabucco.

Aida stars Olga Perrier, the international French soprano as Aida, and Liza Kadelnik, the celebrated Mezzo from the Romanian National Opera as Amneris. The tragic story of war, jealousy and revenge is traditionally-staged, featuring a temple dance and the classic triumphal march.

Each of the operas at the Hall for Cornwall will be sung in Italian with English surtitles.

La Bohème is on Wednesday, October 12; Nabucco is on Thursday, October 13, and Aida is on both Friday, October 14 and Saturday, October 15, all starting at 7.30pm.

Ticket prices range from £16 to £35 and are available from the box office on 01872 262466, or online at hallforcornwall.co.uk
