Carnon Downs Drama Group are preparing to bring the first amateur production of By Jeeves to the South West.

Following their recent experience performing with the Royal Shakespeare Company in their touring production of A Midsummer Nights Dream, the local amateur dramatics group are following what they have referred to as their "by gosh" experience with the "by jolly" family show that is By Jeeves.

The musical comedy, which blends the musicality of Andrew Lloyd Webber with the storytelling of Alan Ayckbourn, follows the enduring comedy of PG Wodehouse's iconic characters, Jeeves and Wooster.

The story begins in a village hall where Bertie Wooster is about to give a banjo recital in aid of funds to restore the church steeple. Before the performance begins, Bertie realises his banjo has been stolen and he then has to improvise a comic story from his past with the help of friends taking on the various roles and utilizing props that are discovered in the village hall. It soon leads to comedy mayhem.

By Jeeves will be at Perranarworthal village hall from Tuesday, October 25 to Saturday, October 29 at 7.30pm, with a Saturday matinee at 2pm.

Tickets cost £10 for adults, £9 for concessions and £5 for students. A family ticket costs £30.
