An award-winning choreographer and former Rambert dancer is bringing her latest work to Falmouth University.

Didy Veldman, who has an excellent reputation for her expressive and dynamic work, recently formed her own dance company, Umanoove.

The choreographer is taking the company on tour with her contemporary dance production, entitled The Happiness Project.

Didy said: “We’re all interested in being happy and The Happiness Project examines the idea of happiness as something we strive for, as something fleeting, something that can be very elusive or even absent.

“My aim is to find a common language between the movement, drama and the music on stage in my investigation of western society’s endless search for fulfilment.”

This physical, theatrical work is made in collaboration with four highly acclaimed independent dancers: Dane Hurst, Mathieu Geffré, Hannah Kidd and Estela Merlos.

The music will be played live on stage by celebrated composer/violinist, Alexander Balanescu, whose music has been used frequently by Didy over the years.

The Happiness Project will be at the Academy of Music and Theatre Arts at Falmouth University on Saturday, November 12 at 7.30pm.

Tickets cost £14, £12 for concessions, and are available from the box office on 01326 259349, or online at amata.org.uk.

The show will be preceded by a workshop with Didy Veldman from 10am to 12pm. Tickets for this are free for AMATA students, £10 for dance practitioners.
