North South Theatre are bringing the atmosphere of the First World War to life in their unforgettable and gripping production, Pals.

Written by Jason Gerdes, co-artistic director of North South Theatre, Pals is set during the first years of the Great War.

The poignant yet funny comedy follows the story of two innocent and enthusiastic men who volunteer their services to Britain after Kitchener's call for a New Army.

The friends, who are also brothers-in-law, do their best to keep each other's spirits up with bawdy humour, trenchant sarcasm and a camaraderie that only comes from knowing one another for years.

Although this story is fictional, its background is based firmly in reality as battalions of 'pals' were formed from groups of friends and work-mates during the war.

Inspiration for this production came when Jason was reading WWI diaries and decided to write his own play to be performed by the theatre company he created with Steven Kelly in 2014.

North South Theatre Company have been touring this production across Cornwall to commemorate the first world war, and will continue to tour until 2018, including a visit to Brighton Fringe.

Pals will be at The Poly, Falmouth on Friday, November 11 at 7.30pm.

Tickets prices range from £9 to £11 and are available from the box office on 01326 319461, or online at thepoly.org.
