Saint Petersburg Classic Ballet will showcase a spectacular new version of The Nutcracker, with stunning baroque designs, along with the beautiful classic Swan Lake, at Hall for Cornwall this week.

Offering a traditional repertoire which features principal dancer Natalia Romanova, one of the pupils of the late legendary ballerina Natalia Dudinskaya, will certainly enchant dance fans.

Saint Petersburg Classic Ballet, under the direction of Marina Medvetskaya, boasts impressive technique, exquisite artistry and bold production of these best-loved Russian ballets.

With the romance and beauty of Tchaikovsky's soaring score, Swan Lake is considered to be one of the greatest classical ballets of all time while Tchaikovsky's endearing familiar score for The Nutcracker performed by a live orchestra, makes this an unmissable family treat.

Saint Petersburg Classic Ballet, which was founded by Medvetskaya in 1996, has dancers who have trained at the finest schools under some of Russia’s most esteemed teachers. The company has already garnered magnificent reviews worldwide for performances of its popular repertoire, but the UK press were equally impressed with their interpretation of The Nutcracker and Swan Lake.

Artistic director Marina Medvetskaya said: “It had been a dream of mine to bring this company to audiences in the UK. We enjoyed a wonderful season earlier in the year and I believe UK dance fans fully embraced the beauty, power and dexterity of our male and female dancers in these iconic ballets.”

Swan Lake will be performed at the Hall For Cornwall today and tomorrow, Wednesday and Thursday, January 18 and 19, at 7.30pm, with The Nutcracker being staged at 2.30pm on Friday and Saturday, January 20 and 21.
