A Falmouth teenager will appear on stage with the Duchy Opera in a home town performance of La Traviata in June.
Rebekah Stamp is a 19 year-old former Truro College student who has been a member of the company since 2013, and will be performing the role of Flora in shows at the Princess Pavilion and the Minack Theatre.
Duchy Opera will be staging a brand new performance of Verdi’s heart-breaking tale of love and tragedy, with a thrilling cast of soloists with chorus and orchestra, retelling how Violetta, the fallen woman of the title, finds true love only to lose it through misunderstanding and deception.
Rebekah Scamp, who is currently on a gap year following her A-levels, will be bringing her own talents to the role of Flora, as she aims to pursue a career in singing.
As well as performing in choirs such as Cornwall Youth Choir, the National Youth Training Choir, St. Mary’s Singers, and in Duchy Opera, she has also appeared as a soloist in many venues across the south west. Her latest singing achievement has been singing the Habanera as Carmen at Birmingham Symphony Hall accompanied by the Cornwall Youth Orchestra
Duchy Opera will be performing La Traviata at the Princess Pavilion, June 9 and 10 and the Minack Theatre on July 3 to 7.
Falmouth tickets cost £16, or £8 for under 18s, from princesspavilion.co.uk or 01326 211222, and Minack Tickets are available fro minack.com or 01736 810181.
