The start of summer heralds the return of festival season to the Trebah Amphitheatre.

With winter well behind us and the evenings getting lighter, warmer and longer it's time to get out into the garden and experience some top notch entertainment.

Trebah Amphitheatre kicked off its performance season on Monday, May 29, with the start of an exciting festival of music, showcasing the best of local talent across a diverse range of genres. This is not a cut off jeans and wellies mud bath, more a laid back evening with friends or a relaxed afternoon out with great entertainment.

The varied schedule includes daytime family singing workshops, community and male voice choirs, silver bands, a classical trio and some get-up-and-dance soul music. The Fisherman's Friends will provide a truly Cornish finale fuelled with pasties and local ale to round off the week on Saturday, June 3.

Following the music festival visitors will have just five days to rest up before the amphitheatre is taken over by a flurry of Shakespeare enthused thespians. From June 8 Trebah presents an approachable programme of all things bard. Again with its family focus there will be a fun and physical workshop run by Cornish theatre maker Bec Applebee and Segun Akingbola from south west England's African Caribbean Theatre company Tangle. Spaces are limited, so be sure to book. The festival finishes with As You Like It performed on the afternoon of Sunday, June 11, by Truro College's second year acting students. Promising to be a brilliant opportunity for Trebah to work with the greater community, this performance is free to Trebah Members and included in the normal ticket price for garden visitors.

Trebah Amphitheatre's main season kicks off from June 17, and has a wide variety of performances, including Cornish favourites Miracle and Illyria alongside puppetry, a Mongolian opera, and the finale in September of a night of stand-up comedy from Mark Watson.

Hold on to your heartstrings for If You Go Down To The Woods Today, as Trebah will be taking dance to a new level this August as actors and dancers take to the tree tops in Yskynna's epic vertical dance production. This promises to be something magical and breathtaking that has never been seen before in a Cornish garden.

Trebah Amphitheatre's full season can be seen and booked at trebah-garden.co.uk/amphitheatre, and telephone bookings can be made via CRBO on 01726 879500.
