Carnon Downs Drama Group 2018 Pantomime will be Robin Hood performed at The Perranwell Centre from Thursday, Jan 25 to Saturday Jan 27.

This traditional pantomime written by David Crump and directed by David Ivall features Heroes and Baddies, comedy and suspense as well as a Woodland Sprite!

The emphasis on the traditional means it is a good family pantomime, so bring the children and a good stock of ‘boos and hisses’ and enjoy the fun.

Carnon Downs has added to the traditional with a progressive attempt to attract a more diverse audience, so the matinee on Sat 27th at 2pm will be fully signed and designated as a relaxed performance.

This has been made possible through a partnership with Drama Express and the charity Sense.

John Frankland Chairman of Carnon Downs Drama Group said: "The issue of diversity is becoming more and more important in professional theatre with performances being signed and audio described along with being stated as relaxed.

"I think it is vital that amateur drama takes up this challenge especially in local pantos, it is these productions that are often the very first theatre that children see and equally as important perform in, they should be made as accessible as possible to all communities.’

John added, ‘this follows on from our October production which was fully captioned. We are learning all the time and would welcome suggestions in how we can do more and do it better. The initial challenge is getting members of D/deaf community to be aware that a local panto in a village hall is trying to be accessible, so I would hope that many people reading this will not only come to the panto themselves but help spread the word about our very special matinee performance.’
