Kit Johns to Showcase Latest Collection at the Summerhouse Gallery

Up-and-coming Cornish artist, Kit Johns, is to showcase his latest collection at the Summerhouse Gallery in Marazion this July, as part of the Far West exhibition. Showcasing an exciting and diverse collaboration, the exhibition will celebrate a shared love of the west Cornish landscape.

Lizard-based Kit Johns will showcase his latest material at the Summerhouse Gallery’s exhibition, Far West. Based in Marazion, the free exhibition will open with a private viewing on Thursday 12thJuly where money will be raised for local charity Surfers Against Sewage, and will run from the 13thto 26thJuly.

Experimenting with mixed media, the 27 year old’s raw and soulful work is deeply intertwined with his love of the Cornish landscape; his home and his muse. From serene summer beach scenes painted over authentic vintage maps to canvases alive with the movement of burgeoning green and cobalt waves, his work powerfully captures the Cornish coast, as deeply beautiful as it is untamed.

Both hypnotic and nostalgic, Kit’s work is popular amongst people of all ages for its emotive and evocative qualities. Whilst the feet are planted to the floor, the mind is lifted and drawn into the canvas. Accessible to all, his art is a true reflection of his life spent surrounded by the wild and ever-changing Cornish coast and pays homage to its unparalleled beauty.

Speaking about the upcoming exhibition, Kit states “the body of work for this exhibition encapsulates everything I love about both painting and the Cornish coastline, the rawness and energy within both. I am excited for the new work to go on show and be seen by the public, the exhibition as a whole will be a really visually engaging experience.”

Comprising of an array of different mediums, techniques and voices, the majesty of the west Cornish coast and countryside is a key theme of the exhibition. Free to the public, Far West seeks to celebrate the joy and wonder of this incredible part of the world.

Also featuring Helen Jones, Jack Davis and Jade Bowmer, Tom Leaper and Jake Boex, the gallery will run from the 12thto 26thJuly. The exhibition is supported by Surfers Against Sewage.
