Bringing back the traders to the Moor adds spice
It would be so good to have the market traders back on the Moor!

Thanks to all those that don’t beep on corners
A big thank you to all those people out there that don't beep on the corner of Silverdale Road/Marlborough Avenue! Nice to know there are some considerate good drivers around!

A mighty response to our appeal for memorial
As you are aware we have had a mighty response in Cornwall and nationally to our fundraising appeal on behalf of the Memorial to Fishermen Lost at Sea.

After the extremely strong east wind last Thursday night the road behind Maenporth beach looked more like the Sahara Desert.

Bit suspicious of the woodlice in my porch
Several people have expressed disapproval of the use of various surveillance operations carried out by councils, police or intelligence services, stating that it is an intrusion on privacy.

Car clampers are taking a liberty with our vehicles
I am writing to you because I feel that these clamping firms are taking a liberty in clamping cars, when it comes to leaving your car for a matter of minutes.

More parent and child parking spaces needed
I am a mother to a five-month son and on a shopping trip to Truro, Carrick council charged me £60 for having to park in two spaces at Moorfield car park in Truro.

The jobsworth is alive and well on the buses
The great jobsworth mentality is alive and well and irritating First Devon & Cornwall's customers.

On behalf of David Kneebone and myself, I would like to thank not only Penryn Rotary Club but our families and friends from Penryn Methodist church, Mabe ladies choir and the Penmeth Singers who so kindly sponsored us for our swim for PANTS, a new charity highlighting awareness of gynaecological cancers.

Champions work hard to promote the elderly voice
In response to the article by the Skipper of April 16, I feel I should thank him for the unsolicited publicity he has given to the launch of the Carrick Older Persons' Forum. However, facts would have been more acceptable than fiction.

Small size is Van Gogh’s appeal for cruise visitors
"The cruise liner Van Gogh may appear the poor relation when viewed alongside more celebrated liners" (In Port, Falmouth Packet, April 9), but at least when cruising aboard the Van Gogh you have the feeling of cruising aboard a real ship and not a floating hotel block of luxury apartments.

Duchy owns Penryn river foreshore and bed
UP at Exeter University, as a part-time mature student, as already learnt by Packet readers, I carried out, commencing in 2005, an ecological survey of local Cornish waters in the immediate area of Penryn River and its oyster fishery.

Museum curators seem to be a curious bunch
THE word museum(s) appeared several times in the Falmouth Packet edition of April 9 and one article "war relic on display" reminded me of a recent visit to the Falmouth National Maritime Museum when I left, for the attention of the curator, information about a sub-mariner with whom I once worked with in London. He was the only Jewish serviceman to be awarded the VC in World War II, for his act of bravery aboard the submarine on which he was serving, CPO Tommy Gould.
