Why can’t I just park for free in council car parks?

9:10am Friday 26th February 2010

WITH reference to all the controversy over car park charges, can I not just park for free in any council owned car park with a camper van or caravan or any vehicle that I live in, on the basis that I am a traveller, and there are currently no facilities for a legitimate travellers site in the old Kerrier area?

Events Square could soon be ‘Non-events Square’

9:11am Wednesday 24th February 2010

WHAT on earth has happened to Falmouth? First of all The Poly closes with not a word to artists who had booked the galleries well in advance. Then the artists’ market was closed down with just two days’ notice. Was the hike in rent due to pressure from the owners of apartments in Events Square – who apparently called the marquee an ‘eyesore’? Let’s not forget the original plan for Events Square incorporated a cinema for local people – if the organisers are not careful it will soon be labelled Non-Event Square! I wonder if the same people will complain about fishy smells when the new Fal-Stein Restaurant opens. Maybe now is the time for the town manager to hatch a deal for Woolworths to be turned into an affordable art venue, which would benefit the town. I thought that Falmouth was meant to be the art students centre of the universe, but where can they and artists like me now exhibit?
