I was delighted to read Chris Blount's letter (December 13) concerning BBC Radio Cornwall, particularly regards the programme Cornwall Connected.

I was very sorry that he had to leave as the programme had all the promise of something unique, and his knowledge and experience, particularly where Cornwall is concerned, is greatly missed. But as he rightly says, Tiffany Truscott and Joanna Twist have put Cornwall Connected back on track and they do a great job. I just hope that the presenter who took over from Chris isn't allowed near the programme again.

There's a mystery that's been puzzling me for some time and that is the disappearance of the Sunday programme "Cornwall Celebrates." This programme was broadcast twice on Sundays and gave a lot of pleasure to the listeners, particularly those who are housebound, yet it suddenly vanished with no mention or reason for it being taken off. Could it be that too many hymns were requested and this wasn't acceptable to this "politically correct" radio station?

I think that a big shake-up at Radio Cornwall, from the top down, is long overdue. Surely they're there to inform and entertain, yet all we get are the same few presenters doing the same programmes year in and year out, resulting in a stale, boring format. What this station needs is new voices with fresh ideas and just as importantly, more "Cornishness."
