My name is Ian Hensher and my family and I live in Falmouth. I was, until two weeks ago, and have been all my life, self employed in the construction industry.

Two weeks into the new tax year and the new Government imposed rule where self employed agency workers must now be PAYE agency workers and this is where we are so far.

They are taking food out of my children’s' mouths, and shrinking my already extremely tight budget. We as a family do not live extravagant lives. We do not own all the latest technology, we do not go on holidays (or even have days out very often).

We do not eat out or have takeaways, our children do not go to clubs and classes that they would love to do because we cannot afford the fees.

What we earn every week goes every week on the household expenses only. There is no money left for luxuries. And now, with the new working terms we have even less money to stretch and spread even thinner.

Bills are still rising, shopping bills are increasingly rising yet we are buying less food and lesser quality food than we were before.

The Government reckon that wages are finally rising quicker than the cost of living. Pah! Not for us or people in the same situation as us. And there are a lot of them.
