WITH reference to the account of Trebah in last week’s Packet, little is known that our own Royal Marines were camped there preparing, with the Americans, for D Day. My husband, now aged 91, was one of them.
Being on the beach for departure with the Americans they were fortunate that there wasn’t room for them. Later they were moved to Tolverne, again with the Americans, but eventually went to France via Newhaven to Dieppe.
