TODDLER found on street, Falmouth Packet, June 4. A two year old at 5am, alone in his pyjamas and with family pet dog and the police response – and I quote – “No initial concerns, it’s not common, but it isn’t unusual.” Well, well, well, I beg to differ.
A child of that age gets out of his bed, fetches his pet dog, unlocks the door (climbs out of window?) makes his way from his home, how far away? And the police have no initial concerns.
An incredible scenario and one which certainly warrants some very close questioning of the child’s parents, guardian and who should be held responsible for his security, albeit also their own, if for a child to escape, also the possibility of criminals entering their home.
Too many cases of oversights by police and social services have seen ongoingly over the years a plethora of children subsequently suffering as a direct result of this type of complacency and neglect on the part of parents, police and social security works failing to do a proper job.
